Virginia Marathon 2025

The Virginia Marathon offers a stunningly scenic and diverse course set amidst Virginia’s renowned horse and wine country. Managed by Old Dominion Racing, the race provides options for both live and virtual participation, beginning in the historic town of Middleburg, established in 1787. Participants follow a route through Loudoun and Fauquier counties on a mix of paved roads and gravel sections, boasting views of rolling countryside, horse farms, and verdant vistas with ample shade. The marathon both starts and concludes at The Hill School, a short distance from Middleburg’s quaint downtown, known for its charming boutiques and local eateries.

For those craving an extra challenge, the full Marathon or Merikós—which features a demanding ascent up Bull Run Mountain with over 3000 feet of total elevation gain—provides an ideal test of endurance and resilience. The route is comprehensively marked, well-supported with water stations and individually packaged snacks at intervals, and equipped with restroom facilities along the way and at the start/finish line. Conveniently, parking is available on the premises of The Hill School, alongside several surrounding lots.

This event accommodates various race distances to cater to all runners' abilities: the Marathon, Merikós, Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K, each with its designated start time and cutoff:

• Virginia Marathon: 7:30 AM start with a 7-hour time limit
• Merikós: 8:30 AM start with a 6-hour time limit
• Half Marathon: 9:30 AM start with a 5-hour time limit
• 10K: 10:30 AM start with a 4-hour time limit
• 5K: 11:30 AM start with a 3-hour time limit

Participants can collect their bibs and capitalize on special shopping deals at Road Runner Sports the day before the race (March 22, 2025) from 12 PM to 4 PM, or on race day from 6:30 AM until the event they are participating in begins. The first 100 arrivals for packet pickup on Saturday receive a complimentary pair of Virginia Marathon Compression Socks.
