Best On-Course Viewing Spots
If you're spectating in person, the subway is your best friend. Aim to arrive early, pack light, and plan your route around the recommended zones below.
- Fourth Avenue, Brooklyn (Miles 2–4): Catch the massive field as it pours off the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. The R train is the move.
- Flatbush & Downtown Brooklyn (Mile 8): B, D, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 4, and 5 trains offer plenty of options and plenty of energy.
- Williamsburg & Greenpoint (Miles 10–13): Shops, cafés, and music make it a fun hang before runners cross into Queens.
- First Avenue, Manhattan (Miles 16–18): Bars, restaurants, and wall-to-wall cheering. Take the N, Q, R, 4, 5, 6, or F trains.
- East Harlem & Charity Cheer Zone (Miles 19–20): Celebrate thousands of runners supporting NYRR charity partners at First Avenue & 120th Street (6 train).
- Fifth Avenue into Central Park (Miles 23–24): This uphill stretch can make or break a PR—your cheers matter here. Ride the Q, 4, 5, or 6.
- Finish at Columbus Circle: Standing room inside Central Park is free (enter via Broadway at West 61st Street or by Heckscher Fields), while grandstand tickets must be purchased in advance.
Remember that spectators are not allowed on any bridges (including the Verrazzano and Pulaski). Plan your day using the latest MTA updates and allow extra travel time between boroughs.
Spectator Etiquette & Safety
- Stay behind barricades and keep building entrances clear. Carry-in chairs and large speakers aren't allowed.
