2025 Boston Marathon Official Charity Program Announced
The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has unveiled the 2025 Boston Marathon Official Charity Program, featuring 174 organizations dedicated to raising funds for meaningful causes.
Supporting Worthy Causes
The 2025 Boston Marathon, scheduled for April 21, will see these organizations utilizing invitational entries to recruit athletes committed to fundraising. This initiative not only supports the marathon but also amplifies the impact of these charities, allowing runners to participate while backing a cause close to their hearts.
In 2024, the program set a new record with $45.7 million raised, contributing to a total philanthropic impact of $71.9 million. Since its inception in 1989, the program has generated over $550 million, solidifying the Boston Marathon's status as a key fundraiser for numerous charitable endeavors.
Why the Boston Marathon is a Tough Race to Enter
Known as one of the world's most prestigious road races, the Boston Marathon is famous for its challenging qualification standards. Many runners spend years trying to achieve qualifying times, which vary based on age and gender categories. However, the Boston Marathon's Official Charity Program offers an alternative route for participation, allowing those who might not meet the strict time criteria to gain entry by committing to fundraising goals for non-profit organizations.
Participating through the charity program doesn't just mean running; it means making a difference. Runners join a community that merges the joy of running with the satisfaction of giving back, supporting causes from healthcare to education, community wellness, and beyond. Each step taken by these charity runners symbolizes a stride towards positive change.
